Racism Stains Trump Administration

President Trump hurls racist tweets at millions of minority citizens effectively hindering Puerto Rico’s recovery from Hurricane Maria. Trump deserves special admonition for dividing the country. Many racist and bigoted acts tarnish the Trump brand and even the White House.

With over three million American citizens in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands suffering after Hurricanes Irma and Maria slashed through the Caribbean, Trump finds time to head for his resort golf course – twice in 9 days.

Sadly, a review of evidence clearly shows racism is a key factor. The U.S. recovery efforts in Texas and Florida are infinitely more adequate than the one for Puerto Rico. President Obama moved lightning-fast to aid Haiti after a 2010 earthquake. The Trump Administration moved slowly with aid but ran quickly to cameras to falsely claim Puerto Rico recovery is a “good news story.”

And why should we suspect racism at every turn? Because we find racism and bigotry at every turn. Examples of pure unadulterated racism, bigotry and white supremacy dot the historical landscape of Donald Trump landscape from his New York beginnings to his presidential administration. Below a partial list of Trump’s outrageous, immorally racist actions.

Trump’s Racist New York Beginnings

  • Fined for excluding minority renters
  • Falsely accused the Central Park Five
  • Failed to apologize for the travesty

Trump’s Racist Political Campaign

  • Led the Birtherism movement against President Obama
  • Sent Donald Trump Jr. to Philadelphia, Mississippi for his inaugural campaign event
  • Supported keeping “Reskins” as mascot/name of Washington NFL franchise
  • Claimed Mexicans are rapists
  • Promised to build a border wall and make Mexico pay for it
  • Promised to deport millions of “illegals”
  • Attacked Trump University civil case judge Curiel for being Mexican
  • Attacked Gold Star Family related to racist attack against Muslims
  • Hired Steve Bannon of Breitbart fame as a senior policy advisor
  • Retweeted several white supremacist tweets and memes
  • Failed to admonish David Duke until pressured
  • Demeaned and slandered the Black Lives Matter movement
  • Claimed to be the “law and order” candidate

Trump / Trump Administration Racism

  • Signed executive orders to eliminate minority protections
  • Enacted policies that harm minority protections, civil rights, and social justice
  • Targeted urban and minority community protections
  • Supported public display of Confederate statues and symbols
  • Declared Chalottesville KKK, Neo-Nazi and white supremacist protestors as good guys
  • Again failed to admonish David Duke until pressured
  • Demanded ESPN fire a minority co-anchor but not a white Miss Texas after both labeled Trump a white supremacist
  • Demanded that NFL owners fire players that protested for civil rights and social justice
  • Demeaned the minority NFL players, calling them SOBs
  • Favored Texas and Florida over Puerto Rico after devastating hurricanes

Trump deserves special admonition for scolding the mayor of San Juan and Puerto Rico’s 3 million U.S. citizens nine days into a deepening humanitarian crisis. Trump basically accused the minority citizens of a Caribbean island for their lazy work ethic and dependency on federal government assistance. Sure sounds racist to me. Trump attacked the mayor and island residents from his golf resort in New Jersey where he is very dependent on revenue from U.S. taxpayers for security and grift.

Trump took time off from resort activities for more divisive political tweets, some targeting the U.S. island territory directly, “To the people of Puerto Rico: Do not believe the #FakeNews!” But his tweets fell on deaf ears, or rather electronic devices, since 95% of Puerto is still without power.
