Trump satire punks Putin, media & voters

Trump asks Russia to hack USA servers

It was just a joke… only “satire” Donald Trump tells media a day after his headline grabbing Doral news conference. Trump satire? He was not referring to the entire news conference but problematic statements where he solicited a foreign adversary of the United States to target his political opponent with cyber warfare.

Where does the Trump satire stop and serious start?

Maybe Trump did mean the entire news conference was a joke. It certainly was a trick given the timing. The Trump presser was planned strategically to disrupt Hillary Clinton’s methodically planned Democratic National Convention and upset her week in the sun.

Trump’s satirical statements did not seem humorous at the time nor do they seem funny now. And the media’s eagerness to meekly acquiesce to Trump’s audacious excuse is not amusing either – it’s infuriating.

As a citizen and voter, I feel duped, taken… totally punked. Not by Trump – I expected as much from the clownish barker. But I do feel deceived by formerly trustable media – YOU STINK!

Political journalists in mass failed their profession so badly that I now like Congress better. Just kidding! … No I’m not! …

Read on to find out if this is a satirical work or serious advice from a distressed, concerned American (well, it worked for Trump).

Guilty as charged

Trump flirted with treason when he publicly colluded with a foreign power to conduct cyber warfare on U.S. government interests and individuals. Despite numerous aspects and angels of this story, it appears that Trump will not be held accountable if his daring excuse is accepted.

Suggestion: going forward, ask Trump if his other statements are satire. And ask about his top policies: border wall with Mexico; universal ban of Muslims; and trade war with China.

A swing and a whiff

Elite journalists these days seem not to be able to walk and chew gum at the same time. Several telling and questionable items fell through the cracks following Doral.

  • Trump’s 2 Big Lies about Russia: Donald Trump denied connections to Putin and Russian business dealings. Trump said he “never met him,” and had “zero” business dealings in Russia, demonstrably false statements according to various news sources.
  • Trump’s Kremlin Connections: Trump Campaign Chairman Paul Manafort has close ties to the Kremlin after a successful political campaign strategy helped elect a Kremlin favorite to president in Ukraine (Slate, Foer).
  • Manafort Character Flaw: Trump Campaign Chairman Paul Manafort maliciously lied to the world about Melania Trump’s plagiarism last week. It would be appropriate to warn consumers about his ethics before disseminating Manafort statements.
  • Republican Platform Change: Trump curiously – less curiously now – changed the Republican platform to favor Putin. One of the only significant parts in the Republican platform that Trump weighed in on was to eliminate the call to arm Ukraine against Russia (reported by Katy Tur).

Media, please investigate and report on these important items.

Trump endangers national security

Mainstream media is reporting on Trump’s national security lapses but the mishandling of Doral leaves me questioning their resolve.

  • Putin-Trump Alliance: Putin and Trump have a history of mutual admiration based on numerous business dealings (various reports).
  • Russian Meddling in U.S. Elections: Two Russian intelligence agencies hacked into the Democratic National Committee servers, stole data, and passed pilfered email to leakers who released the stolen emails on the eve of the DNC (various reports).
  • Quid Pro Quo #1 – Trump Threatens NATO Allies: Trump recently questioned his support for NATO members in Eastern Europe (various media reports).

Weakness on Trump’s taxes signals media malfeasance

Donald Trump is the Republican Party nominee for President of the United States of America. If the media cannot wrestle tax returns from Trump as is the postmodern norm, then how will the media ever be able to cover or confront Trump once in office?

Trump’s excuse is a lame one considering the importance of the matter. So what if he is under an IRS audit – if being President is important, then Trump should figure out a way to disclose tax documents.

Do we really know Trump is being audited?

Is Trump really under audit? Trump has proven himself to be dishonorable. Why should we believe him without proof? Journalist should demand that Trump prove his audit status. Let’s see his birth certificate – er, I mean tax audit notice.

Does the IRS audit cover Trump’s entire $10 billion enterprise for all 15 years? If the audit is that extensive, then there may be issues that will preclude or distract Trump from serving in office.

Trump likely is not being audited for more than one or a few years so there are plenty of other tax returns that Trump can and should disclose.

False narratives expose media madness

  • Email Double Standard

Journalists and commentators are hinting that more emails are imminent with content so horrible that any one of them will put Hillary in jail! Never mind that any email leaked through Russian intelligence is suspect.

Step back and look at the big picture. Why are we still dogging Hillary for email? What rights do we have to see her personal, private, and properly disposed of email and/or email from co-workers; and/or email from DNC employers whose boss is NOT Hillary; and/or email from the Clinton Foundation – she doesn’t work there either!

I don’t recall any of the Hillary-hating scolds giving a flip about the 5 million lost Bush administration emails and accompanying violations that were lightly pursued.

  • Clinton email and charity vs Trump deception and fraud

When it comes to hounding Hillary, continual investigations that go nowhere are wearing thin. The hunting of Clinton to lynch her over email should stop, especially after a FBI investigation ended favorably for her. And now to smear the good works of the Clinton Foundation charity seems like yet another obsessive overreach.

Meanwhile, Trumps voluminous lies and deceits are treated like cute little foibles that somehow make him the darling of a sect that sees him as the beacon of truth, always telling it like it is.

Media shamefully flunks the fairness test

A meme runs rampant through the land that Hillary Clinton is dishonest and untrustworthy when compared to Donald Trump but facts don’t bear this out.

Politifact, famous for measuring honesty, gives Clinton high marks and Trump bottom-of-the-barrel low ones. Politifact rated over 200 statements from both candidates. Clinton was 4 times more truthful than Trump! And Trump was 4 times more dishonest than Clinton!!!

Trump rates more pants-on-fire lies than all other presidential candidates

Pants-on-fire falsehoods are maybe the most specific honesty/dishonesty indicators. While Clinton was tagged with 4, Trump scored an astonishingly high 36 pants-on-fire ratings, 9 times more than Clinton.

Clearly the media is not doing their job

Clinton when compared to Trump is much more honest and trustworthy. So why does the populace believe otherwise? I think the answer is simple. The media is biased to favor Trump over Clinton.

Here’s a thought: what if we call a moratorium on investigating more Clinton email until Trump releases his tax returns and proper medical records. And while we’re at it, let’s get to the bottom of Trump’s and Manafort’s deep ties to Putin, Russia and the Kremlin.
